Mayor Lori Woods is now serving her first term on the Signal Hill City Council and appointed as Mayor in March 2016. She was elected on March 5, 2013 in a campaign emphasizing her commitment to encourage public participation in government, and to put the interests of residents and business first in all decision-making.
She is proud of the City of Signal Hill and wishes to continue to offer good public services and a sound local economy. She also sees a future that strengthens residential quality of life, environmental quality, property values, and small businesses.
As promised, Mayor Woods has been working on the development of neighborhood based emergency preparedness plans and working to encourage all Signal Hill residents to support our local economy by shopping locally. She calls this program, KYMISH (Keep Your Money In Signal Hill).
Mayor Woods is a long-time Signal Hill resident. She and her husband are raising their four children in Signal Hill. Among her daily activities is running a family-based business & working in her Community garden plot.
She is a graduate of Tennessee Temple University, Chattanooga, TN with a degree in Office Administration. She currently holds a California Real Estate Sales License. Her professional work experience includes: 15 years as a real estate professional, 5 years as secretary with the County of Orange Job Training Partnership Act and 8 years in rental property management.
I welcome the opportunity to continue the work of representing you on the Signal Hill City Council for another four-year term. I respectfully ask for your vote again in hopes that you feel I have represented you well.
If re-elected, I would continue to build on the knowledge I have gained in my first term & apply that knowledge to the multi-faceted decisions that are necessary for Signal Hill to continue to run smoothly, provide the services that our community needs, & remain fiscally sound into the future.

- Our citywide emergency preparedness plans
- Growing our Citizens Emergency Response Team
- Further expansion of our Map Your Neighborhood program
- The completion of our New Library
- The set aside of additional operating reserves
I have a strong commitment to nurturing collaborative relationships and have been a strong advocate of our business community. It has been my privilege to represent Signal Hill in various organizations throughout our region: METRO Gateway Service Council, LA County Sanitation District, California Contract Cities Association, I-710 Project Committee & CA Joint Powers Insurance Agency.
